~ Opening Words ~

“Happy Valentines Day! And congratulations, In ancient Rome there were love lotteries held in
February as a way for young people to get to know one another. Yet the greatest prize ever, is
to win the love of the one whom you love. How thrilled you must have been when they called
and told you that you had won and were to be married here at the Empire State Building. Your
entry said:

“New York is the world’s city; New York is our city. And the Empire State Building is New
York’s building. It’s the place we went when we were falling in love, and it’s the Empire’s
lights we watch from our Brooklyn apartment each night before we sleep. Where else could be
better?”

It also described the early days of your relationship at your “alternative collage newspaper”,
how you perceived one another, grew on one another, and how the arrogance of youth gave
way as you “realized that knowing everything was no longer as important as knowing each
other.” My parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and when asked the
secret my mother said “It’s always knowing when you’re right.” and my father said “But caring
more about being happy.” This simple truth is something that you have come to at the
beginning of your journey. I can only imagine that with such a great foundation that the heights
you will reach will be limitless.”

~ Presentation of the Rings ~

“May I have the rings please?”

Officiant is given the rings

“These beautiful rings are meant to serve as a physical reminder of the feeling you have in your
hearts at this very moment. There are times in life that we tend to focus the things we have not
yet accomplished, there will also be times of sorrow and loss. Yet as you look to your hand and
your wedding band, it will softly speak of the great gift that you have been given and all that
you have in one another. It shall also be a reminder in the times of great joy, that you have
someone to share it with. Never again do you walk alone for your love shall be with you
always.”

~ Closing Words and Pronouncement ~

“Marriage has in it the power to form a circle of family
that includes all who are touched by the warmth
of the love shared by a loving husband and wife,
creating a common ground of uncommon richness.
May your marriage bring your souls an abundance
of spiritual and physical nourishment.
May you be strong enough to balance one another,
caring and giving enough to complement one another.
May you be prosperous in all ways, ever appreciative,
and grateful for all the gifts your marriage has brought.
May you see your children grow and thrive.
And may you live your lives together in perfect harmony,
As partners, lovers, parents, teachers and best friends.”

“You are now as your hearts have always known you to be,
Husband and Wife. You may kiss your beautiful Bride!”
